BIRD NERD ADVENTURE
OVERVIEW
Along the edge of Orlando’s suburban sprawl, there awaits the “Real Florida,” subtropical wetlands, havens for all types of wildlife. Adventures in Florida has created two tours specifically to search for our feathery friends.
Along the Saint John’s River and its watershed are sprawling floodplain marshes, an ideal habitat that attracts more species of birds than any other habitat of the interior of central Florida.
Throughout the year, over two hundred species of birds can be encountered here! Herons, Egrets, Bald Eagles, Anhingas, Swallow Tail Kites, Snail Kites, Limpkins, Roseate Spoonbills, Ducks, Warblers, and many more.
Grab your binoculars and join us on an adventure where the water and sky merge into a bird habitat.
The long tour offers a more immersive experience, covering more of the river and offering opportunities to observe additional birds and the environment. It includes a light picnic lunch.
These birding tours were created by our guide Matthew G., who saw a need for quality birding tours in the Orlando area. He said, “I’m not an ornithologist but I do have a special affinity for birds. It was bird watching, bird listening, that pulled me back into a love for the natural world. “
